Well, we will call it a "second" honeymoon. Second, because our first honeymoon was in Hawaii on the largely urbanized island of Oahu. This time we got to go to Maui, courtesy of Johns Manville Corporation. So in late February, with our kids in the care of Grandpa and Grandma Young, we ventured to Hawaii for the second time. We thought Maui to be very laid back compared to Oahu and although developed with resorts and homes, Maui seems to have maintained a good balance of the old and new Hawaii.

The business trip part of it filled up a good portion of Scott's time. We were, however, able to have a lot of fun "together" time while snorkeling, paddling a sea kayak around, whale watching, walking on the beach, hunting for shells, enjoying a couple of romantic private dinners and driving up Haleakala to view the volcano crater. The only problem with Haleakala was that we did not see it due to clouds and rain. It was quite the drive however, going from sea level to 10,000 feet. Scott got to play a couple rounds of golf. We even slipped away on Sunday morning to drop in on the local LDS church service. We made some wonderful new friends among the Johns Manville customers on the trip.

One of our most enjoyable memories is the sound of ocean waves lulling us into peaceful slumber night after night. We commented time and time again as we watched beautiful sunsets over the ocean that it all seemed like a dream and we asked ourselves -- did we really have to go back? We quickly remembered those sweet, beautiful little kiddies back in Denver and despite the urge to run away and stay on Maui forever, we actually could not wait to return home.
