See the blazing Yule before us. . .
You see, son, one match, and we have fire
Junior Camp Fire Cookery Club
For some reason, a Yule is a kind of log which is burned at Christmas time. So we naturally thought of camp fires. On this particular trip, Harrison and Will successfully started a fire without matches and we ate well. Camping season in 2003 started with better fire conditions in the forests and was much better than 2002 because we could actually build a fire to cook on.

When camping in Colorado, especially in May, we have found some interesting extremes in weather. We did not have snow over Memorial Day while camping in the Mount Evans area, but some fairly hard rain made life interesting. One highlight was observing some campers in the next site over from ours. They did not really have a clue how to pitch a tent so as to prevent rain from getting inside. Funny how a tarp can actually work like a funnel. Anyway, they eventually gave up and left. We played cards or something.
