Saving for College
You thought that you would navigate to this page and get all the answers. Indeed, we thought so too. As you can see, below are the three children for whom we are currently saving money for college.
Not pictured here is Elizabeth, the child for whom we have finished saving and are now paying to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. (Lizzie is getting plenty of air time on other pages if you had not noticed) We have not decided which is more painful: saving or spending the college fund. Let's just say both activities have interesting risk/reward aspects.

Harrison, is a sophomore at Cherry Creek High School. His expected graduating class is the Class of 2010. This puts Harrison into the college savings "red" zone. No need to panic yet, but, the time is soon at hand. According to some propaganda on the Internet, CCHS is a pretty good school. So we have great expectations for our Hman. Harrison is on the sophomore basketball team and still plays viola in the orchestra. Harrison also participates on the track team and competes in jumping events and hurdles.
Harrison passed his board of review for the rank of Eagle Scout in December and formally received his rank at a Court of Honor held on February 2, 2008.

Next is Will. Will is enjoying his 8th grade year at Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning (RMSEL). Will will enter high school next year and thereby join his brother in the college savings red zone. Will has occupied his time this year exploring interesting questions like "is capitalism the best way to human happiness?" and "why is oil so important to the world?" and other such topics. As part of his study of capitalism, his teachers turned Will and the rest of his class into a entrepreneurial laboratory and unleashed some pretty agressive capitalists on the Denver market. Will and his friend Jay started a custom skateboard business called JDub Custom Longboards.
Will also enjoys soccer and played this last fall season with new team. Will and his mates won the Colorado State Rec League tournament for their age group.

Arianne attends Dry Creek Elementary School, which lucky for us, operates as a "collegiate preparatory focus school." Arianne takes after her sister and brothers as a voracious reader. She takes her schoolwork seriously and loves participating in the school choir. Swimming is still a big focus for Ari and she competes with the Aces Swim Club year-round. Ari recently qualified for and competed in the Colorado State Short Course Championships in Fort Collins. She swam in a medley relay, a 200 yard freestyle and a 50 yard backstroke. She also qualified in the 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard backstroke, 100 yard individual medley and the 50 yard freestyle but Ari chose not to compete in those events because they were held on a Sunday.
