2004 Pusey Family Christmas Letter -- Bonanza in the Black Hills

If you made it this deep into the links of this web site, the last thing you want to read about is another Pusey road trip. Okay, so we won't be long. But there are some places in the good old US of A that everybody should visit at least once. Mt. Rushmore and the rest of the sites in the Black Hills area of South Dakota, in our humble opinion, should be on your list. We spent a portion of the kid's fall break in the Black Hills and we could fix you up with the outfit that rented us a great cabin.

We disagree with many who claim Mt. Rushmore is not nearly as "big" or impressive as they expected it to be. Some folks are also carving a mountain with the image of Crazy Horse. They refuse to take federal money for the project and so it will probably be like the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York -- always under construction.

Due to some production problems, we apologize for not having any of our own photos to share with you. At this point, who cares, right? We could not take many photos in Jewel Cave or Wind Cave anyway. Touring these caves was quite interesting. The formation called "boxwork" you see on the Wind Cave brochure is unique in the all the world to Wind Cave. These caves by the way are massive and deep. We also had a paleontological journey at the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, SD.

Jenifer and Lizzie discovered a little magic of their own in the Black Hills. Gold that is, Black Hills Gold. They were convinced again, as on Canal Street in NYC, that they were getting good deals. Scott just hopes that "as Gucci is to Canal Street" is not the same as "as 24 karats is to Black Hills Gold."
