One of the first things we learned in planning our trip to NYC was that hotels are much more strict since 9/11 on the number of occupants per room. So our usual practice of 1 room with 2 beds, mom and dad get one, fight for the other bed and a couple of the minions sleep on the floor was not going to fly. So we had a boys room and a a girls room across the hall from each other at the Crowne Plaza (aka as a Holiday Inn) on Broadway in the Times Square area. Memorial Day weekend in Times Square is quite busy, several Navy ships were in town for Fleet Week and with sailors and tourists like us we had a great time navigating the crowds. Jenifer found a sheet music store near the hotel and a couple of hours later and a few hundred dollars lighter, Jenifer emerged with some great finds. Her claim was that "we never had money to do this when we lived here so now I can get all this music that I have really needed all these years" or something like that. The guys in the music store were sooo accommodating. We had a hard time deciding which shows to catch with so many choices and all and only a few days in town, so we finally settled on Thoroughly Modern Millie and due to the fine services of the concierge / ticket brokers, our kids may not get to go to the college of their choice. But we had good seats for the show! We are still repeating the line from the show "so sad to be all alone in the world." (If you have seen the show, smile. If not, ignore).
